The vacation and travel industry is one of the most successful, bringing in billions of dollars per year. Coastal Vacations offers amazing vacation packages and promises to allow you to take your share of the wealth for participating in their program.
First of all, while travel is popular, travel agents are not. The Internet has made it simple for anyone and everyone to find their own vacation deals. Those who do happen to purchase through an agent are not likely to be repeat customers, as they'll shop around for another great deal the next time they're ready to go away.
While Coastal Vacations would like you to believe they sell vacations, but they really sell is a multi-level marketing (MLM) plan. You can't just purchase a vacation, but you can join the program and learn how to make money by signing others up. Soon enough, you're trapped in a 2-up program.
Normal MLM plans allows money to flow up to different levels of the program, with the amount you earn differing depending on how high or low you are on the proverbial totem pole. A 2-up program simply means the money you earn will flow up to your individual sponsor. The first two people you sign up will pay a huge upfront fee which goes directly to - you guessed it - your sponsor. You don't get any money at all from your first two sales.
You're on your own after the initial two sign-ups. You have to find new prospects, convince them to join Coastal Vacations and then help them to find their own new prospects.
Want to move up the corporate ladder? You're required to attend corporate events during the year and you must pay your way to get there. You will probably spend around $1,200 to join Coastal Vacations to start with, and attending the corporate events will cost anywhere from $3,000 to $12,000, depending on your current level of commitment.
I took a look at the Coastal Vacations program and decided it wasn't worth my time or effort. Building a loyal customer base is too difficult to accomplish in this Internet savvy society. The only benefit is that you are able to get great deals on travel for yourself or your family.
As with any business opportunity, you must be able to find a continuous supply of interested individuals. The Internet can be a very valuable marketing tool, but you must know the best way to use it. Anyone who can follow step-by-step instructions can find the prospects they need for any business opportunity.
Of course, as I mentioned before Coastal Vacation, the vacation and travel industry don't exactly offer a unique product and having a unique product is paramount to success. My own research ultimately led me to find a product with mass appeal and virtually no market competition. This is what I dreamed being in business would be like.
After examining and testing hundreds of work at home programs, ONLY ONE brought in a paycheck that covered all my monthly expenses.
